Antiplaque Toothpaste by Tom’s of Maine

Posted by on Jun 28, 2010 in Health, Twinkie's Favorites | 0 comments

Health Benefits This is a natural and healthy toothpaste that contains Xylitol to prevent plaque, Propolis and Myrrh for a clean and healthy feeling, and is a Fluoride-Free toothpaste. From what I have studied about Fluoride, I have come to find that it is nothing more than a toxic waste that was added to toothpaste with the intent to build bone health, but this is something that has never actually been proven.  Excessive Fluoride has been proven to cause Fluoride Poisoning, also known as “Flurosis”, which can cause Osteoporosis, Bone Spurs, Chronic fatigue, and can even be deadly. I believe you can properly clean your teeth without having to risk your health. Side Note: If you shouldn’t have fluoride for your toddler’s toothpaste, why would you allow it in your own toothpaste? Taste This is flavored with Fennel, which reminds me...

I hate “Diets”

Posted by on Jun 24, 2010 in Health, Twinkie, Weight Loss | 2 comments

I hate “Diets” because it just seems to imply that someone is only exercising or eating healthy for a short period of time. Once they lose weight and reach their goal, they go back to their old habits! This type of thinking only turns “diets” into “yo-yo dieting”, which means after all that effort and time you too to lose weight and learn great eating and exercise habits, you just gained back all your weight…and then some. If you know what I am talking about first hand, I am sure you hate dieting too. You are in luck though, because I have some good news and depending on how you look at it, maybe some bad news too. Bad news first I don’t think that it’s bad news, but for some it might be just that. The bad news...

Do you really need Health Insurance?

Posted by on Jun 21, 2010 in Health | 2 comments

Many people look at Health Insurance and wonder if it is really necessary for them and their family. Unfortunately, most people put it at the bottom of their priority list. In reality, it shouldn’t even be a question whether they should have it or not. Don’t let money hurt your health I know too many people that need to go the Doctor to take care of some serious health concerns, but they don’t because they think they can’t afford the trip to the Doctor’s office. I believe there are some things in life that are priceless. Your health is one of them, and a lack of money should never be a reason why you don’t take care of yourself or your family. The cost of Health Insurance is more than worth it for your family’s health. Buy it before...

Sorbet Bar-Organic Blackberry by Julie’s Organic

Posted by on Jun 17, 2010 in Lactose Free, Twinkie's Favorites | 2 comments

This sorbet bar is absolutely amazing, and I have nothing but good to say about this frozen dessert! First of all, it tastes great. And not only does it taste great, but it has great a great texture (almost like a fruit smoothie, but thicker since it is a sorbet bar). I bought this Sorbet Bar for an event, and people were shocked that this was not only Organic, but actually Healthy! For some reason people have this horrible misconception that Healthy Food has to taste bad. This is another reason why I started this Blog. I want to raise awareness to others to let them know about great tasting products that are actually good for you (or at least better than the competitor!). The best part about this treat, is that it is pretty much guilt free. It...

Importance of Breathing Properly During Exercise

Posted by on Jun 14, 2010 in Fitness | 1 comment

Benefits Breathing helps bring oxygen to the muscles, helps you relax, slows heart rate, and increases endurance Application during Exercise Be sure to develop a steady pattern of breathing while you exercise. Breathe in through your nose, and excel through your mouth. If you breathe in through your mouth, that’s when you can start gasping for air, and your mouth just starts to burn. If this is the case, you aren’t doing it correctly. Inhale during the recovery part of your exercise, and exhale during the exertion part of the exercise’s movement. It’s important to breathe properly.  Breathing properly helps you keep your form, prevents injury and unnecessary fatigue. If you want to go the extra mile, or beat your personal best, breathing properly among other things is a sure way to increase your productivity while exercising. Application for Everyday It...

Organic Flax Plus Maple Pecan Crunch by Nature’s Path

Posted by on Jun 10, 2010 in Twinkie's Favorites | 1 comment

This cereal has wonderful ingredients to truly benefit from, such as rolled oats, wheat bran, pecans, flax, brown rice flour, sea salt, cinnamon…you name it! As many of my readers know, I am a huge fan of Organic products. I know and appreciate the nutritional value of Organic products, and this is a certified USDA Organic cereal. What is this cereal missing? Well, it does NOT include things like Trans Fat (which are formed when liquid oils are made into solid fats…not so good), it has Zero Cholesterol, and if you are a Vegetarian…you are in luck! This cereal doesn’t have any ingredients that come from meat, such as fish, fowl, or eggs, which you can thank the wonderful founders for, since it agrees with their personal beliefs and lifestyle.   So this cereal has a lot of healthy...

Butternut Squash

Posted by on Jun 3, 2010 in Nutrition | 1 comment

If produce could be delicious enough to be compared to a treat, you have come to the right place. Some people add brown sugar to butternut squash once it has been cooked, but in my opinion, you don’t need it. It tastes great with just a little bit of butter (you don’t want to over do it) and some salt and pepper. Butternut squash can easily be cooked in the oven for about an hour or so. Just cut in half, scoop the seeds out, and wrap it in tin foil. Once it is cooked and cooled off a little bit (you don’t want to burn your fingers!), take off the skin and mash it, and while it is still warm, add a bit of butter, salt, and pepper. Yum. As much as I love butternut squash, some people...

Organic Lip Balm by Dr. Bronner’s

Posted by on Jun 3, 2010 in Beauty, Twinkie's Favorites | 2 comments

Throw away your Chapstick, because I am going to introduce to you a new way to keep your lips hydrated and healthy. Is Chapstick bad for you? Chapstick, Smackers, SoftLips, Vaseline, Carmex, and other popular brands out there are actually something you may just want to avoid. Why? They contain Mineral Oil and Petroleum, which actually dries up your lips rather than helping them. If Chapstick causes addiction, it would be better for you to avoid it rather than keep using it. Alternative What I love about Organic Lip Balm by Dr. Bronner’s, is that is actually helps heal your lips, without causing an addiction, or a constant need to keep using it over and over again. If my lips ever feel chapped, I can use this Lip Balm a couple of times, and then that’s it. I can...
