Coconut Oil for Beauty

You’ve probably heard it a million times. Coconut oil helps you lose weight. I’m sure you’ve wondered how 120 calories per tablespoon of saturated fat can help you lose weight. No worries, let me explain…

Why Coconut Oil?

In 1998, Researchers at McGill University found that MCFA’s (the main type of fat found in coconut oil) actually use up energy when metabolized. The amount of energy used by the body to oxidize them is greater than the amount of energy they provide. Coconut oil has a thermogenic effect, which means that it raises the body’s temperature, which boosts your energy levels and metabolic rate.  Simply put, coconut oil acts as a weight loss agent by helping you burn more calories throughout the day!

How To Use Coconut Oil For Weight Loss

One of the best ways for you to reach your ideal body weight is to take coconut oil 20 minutes before each meal. Coconut oil provides a satiation effect, which helps prevent you from overeating with each meal. It also helps you absorb the nutrients from the foods you eat, which helps prevent cravings – another powerful tool in helping you lose weight and keep it off.

An easy way for you to take coconut oil before each meal would be through drinking it! Add coconut oil to some warm herbal tea 20 minutes before each meal.

• If you weigh 90-130 pounds, take 1 tablespoon coconut oil before each meal – (3 tablespoons total per day)

• If you weigh 131-180 pounds, take 1 1/2 tablespoons coconut oil before each meal – (4 1/2 tablespoons total per day)

• If you weigh over 180 pounds, take 2 tablespoons coconut oil before each meal – (6 tablespoons total per day)

If you aren’t used to eating a lot of coconut oil or a lot of fat in your diet, you may need to work up to these amounts. You can start with a 1/2 tablespoon per meal and work your way up to the recommended amounts. If you still have problems digesting fats (feeling sick to the stomach), you may want to consider taking “Bitters”, which is herbal extracts of mineral-rich herbs that naturally stimulate bile and increase digestion and assimilation of fats.
