Becoming Healthy

Posted by on Mar 4, 2014 in Skinny Tips & Quotes | Comments Off on Becoming Healthy

Becoming Healthy is the best decision I’ve ever made. Actually, I think choosing my husband was the best choice I’ve ever made, but choosing to be healthy is definitely up there! ;) One of the best things I have done to improve my health was to stop drinking soda completely. I won’t even have soda “every once in awhile”, since I personally think that leads to drinking it on a regular basis again. What’s one thing you have done to drastically improve your health? Keep it out of your house!

Posted by on Feb 18, 2014 in Skinny Tips & Quotes | Comments Off on Keep it out of your house!

“If you can’t eat it responsibly, keep it out of your house” The other day I was about to buy some delicious cookies. They’re made with natural ingredients, so I buy them every so often, but I still wouldn’t consider them “healthy” since they still have sugar. I mean, they are cookies! It’s a nice “once in a while” treat. These cookies taste AMAZING – which means I have a hard time controlling the amount that I eat. So when I am trying to lose weight, these cookies just don’t belong in my house. It’s just too easy to turn to them when I am hungry, craving something yummy, or too tired to make something. You know yourself, and if you can’t eat a not-so-healthy food item responsibly, just keep it out of your house. Don’t sabotage your...

Weekends and Weight Loss

Posted by on Feb 13, 2014 in Skinny Tips & Quotes, Twinkie | Comments Off on Weekends and Weight Loss

So many people who are trying to lose weight will do really well during the week (eating healthy and exercising), but then when the weekends come…it’s free game! When they weigh-in on Monday, they wonder why they haven’t lost any weight. Sound familiar? Here’s how the weekends can ruin all of your efforts during the week: To lose a pound of fat, you need to omit or burn 3,500 calories. Even if you were exercising and eating healthy ALL WEEK LONG – if you ate whatever you wanted on the weekends…you could EASILY eat an extra 3,500 calories in two days. Doughnuts for breakfast? You’re looking at about 200-400 calories each. And after eating one, you’re still going to be hungry. Chances are, the sugar cravings are in overdrive and BAM! You just ate another doughnut. Oops. At this...

Achieve Long-Term Results

Posted by on Feb 11, 2014 in Skinny Tips & Quotes, Twinkie | Comments Off on Achieve Long-Term Results

Small daily improvements are the key to staggering long-term results. I totally agree with this. How I eat today is COMPLETELY different than how I ate 7 years ago. My husband and I didn’t change our eating habits overnight. We made small changes over time, and little by little, we ended up making a huge difference in our overall diet and lifestyle. Achieve Long-Term Results If you want to start eating healthy, I don’t suggest being 100% healthy overnight. Start small. Maybe you can start with just your breakfast! For example, if you used to eat sugary cold cereal for breakfast, switch it up with a healthier alternative such as learning how to make Quinoa Cereal for breakfast. Sure, you might not eat the healthiest lunch or dinner, but you have made a huge change by switching your cold...

100 Calorie Snacks

Posted by on Feb 6, 2014 in Nutrition, Skinny Tips & Quotes | Comments Off on 100 Calorie Snacks

In recent years, 100 calorie snack packs have become super popular. Everyone wants to eat low calorie foods to lose weight or keep the weight off. The problem? Most – if not all – 100 calorie snack packs aren’t healthy for you…at all. Just because it’s only 100 calories…doesn’t make it healthy! It just means it’s “only” 100 calories of junk food. I suggest choosing to eat more nutrient-dense foods that are low in calories, such as VEGETABLES. Not only will you lose weight, but you’ll feel great. You’ll have more energy and you’re going to feel full. Let’s not forget how miserable it is to eat those 100 calorie snack packs only to still feel hungry (and let’s be honest, how many of us actually just eat ONE of those 100 calorie snack packs?). What’s your favorite go-to...
