Skinny Tip #9

Don’t Skip Meals!

If you are trying to lose – or even maintain – your weight, never skip a meal! Eating regularly throughout the day will help increase your metabolism so that you can lose weight effectively.

When people skip meals, their body’s metabolism slows down and attempts to conserve calories and keeps stored fat on the body, rather than losing it.

Healthy Snacking

If you are eating four to six times a day, make sure that you are eating very healthy foods throughout the day. You do not – I repeat!- You do not want to start eating junk food throughout the day and in-between meals, since this defeats the whole purpose of eating throughout the day, which is to increase your metabolism to help you lose weight!

A great snack in between meals would be to munch on low calories foods such as vegetables or fruit! Perhaps on your more intense workout days, you can include a higher calorie  (still very healthy!) snack such as a almonds, walnuts, or pistachios (or another type of nut!).

Always snack in moderation!

Sound Advice

What is the best health advice you have ever heard? I don’t know if I can quite pin down a specific health tid bit that trumps all, but I have found a wonderful quote that gives some sound health advice that anyone can follow.

“Sometimes the most urgent and vital thing you can possibly do is take a complete rest.” - Ashleigh Brilliant

It’s critical for your health to get enough rest each night. It’s one of those things that is just so easy, but many forget the real value of a simple good night’s rest. Prioritize your your day’s schedule and get the rest your body so desperately needs.

Today Is Always The Perfect Day To Start

Too many “diets” and “new ways of life” start on Monday. If you have resolved to start exercising on a Wednesday, why wait until the following Monday to get started? Start now!

Here’s an excellent quote I came across this last week, and it should serve as a reminder to all of you who wait until Monday to start making positive changes in your life.

“A year from now you will wish you had started today” – Karen Lamb

If you need to start exercising or eat healthy, don’t wait until tomorrow. You have the ability to start right now. Start today, and continue on for the rest of your life.  Don’t live your life continually thinking “I’ll start tomorrow” or “I’ll start someday…when I’m ready” or “on Monday”. If you continue thinking like this, chances are, you will never start and you will continue making excuses to start another day. I’m sure you’ve heard other people (or yourself!) say “I am going to start next Monday because of X, Y, Z…”. Again, don’t make excuses. Look how far they have taken you. Nowhere.

Remember that today is always the best day to progress and make your life better than it was yesterday.

Skinny Tip #8

When life gives you lemons, just add water!

Skinny Tip:

If you are looking for a healthy cleanse, a way to boost your metabolism, and a great afternoon “pick me up”, then just squeeze a little bit of fresh lemon juice into a cup of water and enjoy!

Not only does water with a bit of lemon taste great, but did you also know that lemons are known for a plethora of health benefits?

I suggest that you take advantage of them.

Are you Committed?

“Commitment leads to action. Action brings your dream closer.” – Marcia Wieder

I thought that this was such a great quote. So many people want to change their lives for the better, yet they aren’t willing to commit to themselves and really make it happen.

Unfortunately, you are not likley to reach your weight loss goals (for example)  in just two weeks. It takes time.

Fortunately, the time and effort you put towards your health are going to be worth it in the end. Focus on the end goal and you will ultimately reach your goals. Fall back a couple of steps?  That’s OK. That’s life! Just get yourself back on track sooner rather than later and keep moving forward.

Tell me what you have done to commit to yourself and reach your goals!
