Get rid of a Sore Throat within 24 hours

Did you wake up this morning with an awful sore throat? Having a sore throat is no fun, and here are some tips that will help make you feel better.

Get your immune system back in gear. Try to eat foods with Vitamin C and Antioxidants. Vitamin D3 is a great way to boost your immune system too!

Avoid processed sugars and artificial sweeteners! Processed sugars are just going to tear down your immune system and will only make things worse. If you are trying to get better fast, stay away from processed sugars.

Gargle your throat with sea salt. With 1 cup of warm water, add about 1 or 2 teaspoons of real salt and stir. Gargle your throat every 2 hours. The salt heals your throat, naturally gets rid of the bacteria and germs, and allows for your body to recover.

Might not be a bad idea to try a natural cough drop. Cough drops can soothe your throat, and make sure it’s not dry and can heal.

Be sure to drink a lot of water. Your throat may hurt to swallow, but you need to keep drinking water and stay hydrated.

Do you have any other natural and healthy ideas on how to get rid of a sore throat?

Salmon Almond Crunch

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons Mustard

3 tablespoons melted Coconut oil

5 teaspoons Raw Honey

1 slice Ezekiel bread crumbs

1/2 cup Almond slices

2 teaspoons dried (or fresh) Rosemary

2-4 Salmon fillets

Instructions:

Step 1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees and lightly grease baking pan.

Step 2) In a bowl, combine the mustard, melted coconut oil, and honey

Step 3) Place fillets on baking pan.  Spoon on the mustard mixture to each fillet, then top with bread crumbs, sliced almonds, and rosemary.

Step 4) Bake for 20 minutes (or 10 minutes for each inch of thickness, measuring thickest part of the fillet). Salmon should flake when done.

Notes:

Salmon is a perfect  healthy dinner for you and the family. I always try to season my meats in a healthy way, and that’s why I chose Coconut oil (rather than another oil such as vegetable oil), Ezekiel bread crumbs, almond slices, and rosemary.

This is one of my husband’s favorite dishes…I hope you enjoy it as much as he does!

Real Salt by Redmond

Why Real Salt?

Let’s start at looking at the competition. Table salts, or “iodized salt” has gone through intensive bleaching and refining processes, and then on top of that, many have undergone a heat processing and even include additives and chemicals.

Real Salt by Redmond is carefully taken from deep within the earth, crushed, screened, and packaged to stay all natural. It has a pink coloring, which is from the 50-plus trace minerals that weren’t stripped away by any refining/bleaching process.

Taste

Yes, Real Salt by Redmond actually tastes different than other processed and refined salts out there. Good news is, when I say “different”, I mean that it actually tastes better. It is not so different that you don’t think you are tasting salt, but I believe there is just so much more flavor to it, that you will actually enjoy your salt that much more! Nice.

Health Benefitsrealsalt_pouch

Salt is good for you- if you have the right kind of Salt. Some of the benefits of Salt, are as follows; Salt helps regulate the body’s metabolism, food digestion, necessary for proper function of nerve fibers, keeps the water balanced correctly around your tissues and cells in your body, and Salt even helps your heart function, or beat, properly.

For those bloggers out there who believe salt is bad for you, or believes that salt does not have a lot of health benefits is either A) talking about processed and bleached iodized salt,  or B) does not know what they are talking about.  Yes, you need moderation in all things, but to flat out say Salt is not beneficial is just not logical when you really do your research and list the facts.

I recommend going to Real Salt’s website to read their testimonials.  Not only will you  find that I am not the only one who thinks it tastes better, but you will actually come to find how many switched to Real Salt to lower their high blood pressure, among other things.

Many of you may think “well…it’s just salt!”, but remember that each step you take to become healthier,  it makes such a difference for your body! Yes, it is salt. You can now throw away your cheap salt you bought at the grocery store (and not feel guilty about it),  and replace it with an all natural salt that is actually beneficial for your body.

Now, you are one step closer to a healthier you.

Health Benefits of Agave Nectar

Agave Nectar is a wonderful Sugar Replacement!

Agave Nectar agave plant miniture

Blue Agave Nectar is the most common species of Agave plants. If you buy Agave Nectar, chances are they are from the Blue Agave plants.

The two most common types of Agave nectar is either “Light”, “Amber”, or “Dark”.

The Light Agave Nectar has less heating and a more thorough filtration process, which makes a more mild and neutral flavored product. The Dark Agave Nectar is filtered less, and what’s left in the syrup allows for it to have a stronger taste to it, comparable to maple syrup.

The Darker the Agave Nectar, the less processed it is said to be. For me personally, I would rather have a product in its most raw and natural form.

Health Benefits

Agave Nectar has a low glycemic index. This allows for sweetness without the side effects of Sugar, such as an unhealthy blood sugar spike more commonly known as a “Sugar Rush”. This makes for Agave Nectar to be a much healthier alternative to processed sugars and artificial sweeteners, and can be used for those who are diabetic, or just trying to be healthier.

Agave plants have Saponins, which has anti-inflammatory, immune system-boosting properties, even anti-microbial capability. Agave plants also have Fructans in it, which is believed to help lower cholesterol. Agave plants also have Inulin, which is a carbohydrate that many scientists believe helps with weight loss.

Agave Nectar has also been proven to help with intestinal bacteria. Modern technology has confirmed that when using salt with Agave Nectar, it increases the anti-microbial property of the plant, which was originally used by the Aztecs for dressing wounds and using as a balm for skin infections.

So as you are trying to be healthier, find ways to add Agave Nectar in to your day-to-day diet. You will reap the many health benefits, and it will be a much better substitute for sugar or artificial sweeteners.
