Here’s a Skinny Tip for you, which may or may not make sense for you. Ready for this? Skip all those “diet” foods if you are trying to lose weight (or just trying to be healthy)!
Here’s why: Those diet foods that are labeled as “fat free” or “sugar free” contain a lot of artificial sweeteners, which cause you to retain water and it also makes you feel more hungry. Let’s face it, if you feel more hungry, you are going to eat more (and there’s a good chance you’ll be eating more junk food)!
Conclusion: Skip the “diet” foods! Focus on healthy foods that are good for your body (fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats!) and enjoy living that wonderful life of yours!
If you are trying to lose – or even maintain – your weight, never skip a meal! Eating regularly throughout the day will help increase your metabolism so that you can lose weight effectively.
When people skip meals, their body’s metabolism slows down and attempts to conserve calories and keeps stored fat on the body, rather than losing it.
If you are eating four to six times a day, make sure that you are eating very healthy foods throughout the day. You do not – I repeat!- You do not want to start eating junk food throughout the day and in-between meals, since this defeats the whole purpose of eating throughout the day, which is to increase your metabolism to help you lose weight!
A great snack in between meals would be to munch on low calories foods such as vegetables or fruit! Perhaps on your more intense workout days, you can include a higher calorie (still very healthy!) snack such as a almonds, walnuts, or pistachios (or another type of nut!).
Always snack in moderation!
When life gives you lemons, just add water!
If you are looking for a healthy cleanse, a way to boost your metabolism, and a great afternoon “pick me up”, then just squeeze a little bit of fresh lemon juice into a cup of water and enjoy!
Not only does water with a bit of lemon taste great, but did you also know that lemons are known for a plethora of health benefits?
I suggest that you take advantage of them.
It’s OK to ask for help!
When it comes to getting into shape, do you need advice or motivation? Perhaps you can benefit from an “exercise buddy”? Maybe you need to find someone you can “report” to, when it comes to weigh-ins, exercise goals or even calorie (nutrition) consumption? Find someone that is reliable and will be a positive influence in your health goals!
You don’t have to do it alone - I encourage you to participate in our forum, which in on Facebook. The more people who join the conversation, the better it will be for everyone!
PS – don’t you just love this old school picture? It sure made my day! haha
