Are You Too Old To Exercise?

Are you ever too old to exercise? Nope. Here’s some amazing examples of men and women who are exercising well past their 70’s!

Bette Calman – This amazing woman (shown in picture above) is an absolute inspiration at 86 years old! She has been teaching yoga for over 40 years and still teaches yoga classes every week.

“You’re never too old. The body is a remarkable instrument…’It can stretch and stretch, and get better all the time. Forget age”- Bette Calman, The Daily Mail

Jack LaLanne – One of the most widely known fitness, exercise, and nutrition experts, Jack LaLanne was known as someone who practiced what he preached. He continued his two hour workouts well into his 90’s, even up until he died at the age of 97. Jack proved that regular exercise, including cardio and weight lifting, was something that could be accomplished at any age.

Sensei Keiko Fukuda – This woman is the first to have earned the title of tenth-degree black belt in Judo, which is something she has recently accomplished – at the age of 98!

B.K.S. Iyengar – This legendary yogi is 94 years old and has plenty to say and show for the health benefits of Yoga.

“Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity. This evolution includes all aspects of one’s being, from bodily health to self-realization. Yoga means union — the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day-to-day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions.” – B.K.S. Iyengar, Mind Body Green

Lew Hollander – He is only the second 80 year old that has completed the Ford Ironman World Championship, which consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile marathon.

Bernice Bates – Practicing and teaching yoga since the 60’s, Bernice says that she will never stop doing yoga. She credits yoga for her incredible health, which is no wonder why she has no plans of slowing down now!

“I think yoga is the best exercise there is. I’ve never had anything I had to go to the doctor for, except checkups. That should say something.” – Bernice Bates, MSNBC

Ernestine Shepherd – It’s never too late to start exercising, which is something that Ernestine proves! She didn’t start her bodybuilding career at the age of 71 (now 75), and is now fitter than she has ever been and is an inspirational role model for people of all ages.

Age isn’t what stops you from exercising…
