How To Lower Life Insurance Premiums

A lot of people will buy Life Insurance, thinking they have no control over the price they pay. Fact is, you can have a major impact on your Life Insurance premiums.

How You Can Lower Your Life Insurance Premiums

I’m not going to tell you to raise your deductibles or chance your co-insurance ratio. There are plenty of things you can do to help lower your life insurance premiums and increase the quality of your life. Ditching your Sky Diving habit isn’t one of them.

• Exercise on a regular basis.

Oh, I know you’ve been told about exercise a million times. You’ve been told that exercise will help lower your blood pressure, cholesterol, decrease your chances of heart disease, and help you reach your ideal weight – and that’s just the beginning of the benefits of exercise. The problem is, even though you’ve been told why you need to exercise, most people still won’t exercise. So now I’m telling you again. Exercise! Because of the health benefits you’ll experience because of regular exercise, you will likely lower your life insurance premiums. This means you will save money…another reason to exercise.

• Never Smoke, or Quit Smoking Immediately.

Smoking does nothing good for your health. There are so many negative health affects associated with smoking that if you quit smoking (or have never smoked) you will have a lower life insurance premium. When it comes to smoking, it’s not a matter of if you’ll have cancer, it’s a matter of when you’ll have cancer. Cancer can be deadly, which makes smoking an obvious reason for companies to increase life insurance premiums.

• Eat Healthy.

The way you consistently eat has a dramatic affect on your overall health. Whether you consistently snack on fried foods and sugary treats, or fruits and vegetables, it’s going to show up on your health test results.

• Maintain Your Ideal Weight

If you are overweight, I suggest adopting a healthy lifestyle- through exercise and eating healthy- and ditch the idea of a “diet” when it comes to losing weight. If you are already at your ideal weight, maintain healthy habits to keep you there.

• Buy Life Insurance Policy – Early On.

Ideally, if you are going to buy a life insurance policy, you should buy your policy when you are healthy -the younger, the better.

• Request a Reevaluation

Your life insurance premium is based on your results from the medical exam you took before you were approved for coverage. If you have improved your health since your last exam, you can ask for a reevaluation which may help lower your insurance premiums.

When it comes to saving money on your life insurance premiums, creating healthy habits for life are always worth the effort.
